Gary and Karen have lived in Montana for "30-something" years, amongst a passel of children, elderly livestock, and wildlife. Now that all the kids have flown the coop, Garen (as they are sometimes referred), spend their free time groveling in the dirt from dusk to dawn, planting and harvesting more garlic than any soul could possibly know what to do with.
Their farm is a hefty seven and a half acres, and in addition to garlic, the miracle food, Gary and Karen grow pumpkins of all shapes and sizes which are donated to the local schools and Youth Home for Halloween carving. They sport a full sized Sioux replica Teepee next to the pumpkin patch that has been dubbed a giant princess castle by the four granddaughters.
Not only do Gary and Karen sell garlic, they also grow and provide enough vegetables to feed all four of their children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends. In their spare time they've become birdwatchers and are lucky enough to admire hundreds of wild birds that flock to their farm every season. Pairs of quail March up and down the rows of garlic with their babies in tow and swarms of songbirds find refuge in the ("not for burning") brush pile.
All in all, the farm is a lovely place to spend ones days, and indeed, Gary and Karen toil there, day in and day out, to produce some of the most exotic, humongous, and varied garlic species in the nation.
